Reveal the true you

Great beauty needs flawless skin to shine. Pigmentation, breakouts & dull skin can detract from your features. Depending on your Fitzpatrick skin type, you may need up to 4 weeks of preparation with topical actives to get your skin in top condition for a peel

Allow extra time before your first peel to fill out some forms which will determine your:

  • Skin type
  • Skin concerns
  • Personal medical history, allergies & sensitivities

Please allow 30 minutes for a dedicated skin care consult so Dr Wendy can design a peel plan for you

Peel Process

Allow 30 minutes for the peel itself.

Please advise Dr Wendy in advance if you have a busy schedule coming up as you may not tolerate a full strength peel.

Give yourself plenty of time to relax and unwind during your treatment.

After Care

It is normal to experience some mild redness & sensitivity after a peel. Some minor 'shedding' may occur at 3-4 days post peel. If this is problematic, Dr Wendy can address this.

  • Continue using serums as prescribed from the Post Care Kit
  • Wear sunscreen at all times during day light hours
  • Refer to your comprehensive written Post Peel Treatment Instructions
  • Contact Dr Wendy if there are any ongoing concerns

Post Peel Treatment Instructions

Your recovery time will be influenced by the type of peel treatment you have received and your individual skin’s response. Dr Wendy will have discussed with you the individual time frame you should expect. In order to achieve the best results from your peel treatment we ask that you read and understand the following instructions.

Sunscreen icon

Sunscreen is a must after every peel. Sunscreen must be used every day during a series of peels to get the optimum result you desire. No sunscreen...No peel!

You agree to:

  • Increase water intake to include “at least” 8 glasses
  • Wear Physical Sun Protection and reapply every 2 hours
  • Not use wash cloths, or any other type of cloth on skin, instead, apply cleanser to clean hands and foam for application.

Are clinical peels safe?
Clinical peels are a commonly performed procedure around Australia. Dr Wong will first assess your skin is suitable and ensure that you have prepared appropriately. To minimise the risk of problems, it is important to carefully follow all recommended after care instructions as listed above.

Do they leave the skin red and oozing (like Samantha from Sex and the City)?
The sort of peels seen in TV and movies are traditional peels that have more of an ablative effect. The epidermis (upper layers of the skin) is partially or completely removed and the skin will take about 2 weeks to heal.

Clinical peels are designed to initiate an exfoliating response which occurs over several days whereby your epidermis is still intact. You may experience some mild pinking but it normally resolves within the hour.

What effects should I expect from a peel?
Slight sensitivity for the first 3 days and possible dryness or mild flaking from days 4 to 5. After 1 to 2 weeks the skin should feel smoother, more even and brighter.

How long is my skin sensitive after a peel?
Normally 3-5 days depending on the type of peel. Sometimes you may experience flaking for up to 7 days.

Are clinical peels suitable for finer skin types?
Yes, there are several types of peels and Dr Wendy Wong can recommend the specific peels that are most suitable for finer skins.

Will my skin look dramatically different after 1 peel?
No. It takes at least 3-6 treatments to see a significant change. Depending on the skin condition it can take up to 12 treatments along with ongoing maintenance treatments.

Can clinical peels help problematic skin conditions?
The exfoliation that occurs following a clinical peel may assist with removing dead skin cell build up that can be clogging and congesting pores.

Will I breakout after a treatment?
It is possible. It is more common for problematic skin types to experience some breakouts after a peel. This is due to the purging of the pores as the skin exfoliates and rejuvenates.

Will wrinkles actually reduce?
As we age and with sun damage our skin doesn’t exfoliate and renew as efficiently and leads to a build-up that gives the appearance of uneven superficial fine lines and wrinkles. Clinical peels are designed to speed up the exfoliation process leading to a smoother, more refined and younger looking skin allowing fresh healthy skin cells to appear.

Deep wrinkles or dynamic lines may be softened. For the most superior results it is strongly advised to follow a treatment program that includes multiple treatment types.

Can clinical peels remove freckles?
Clinical peels can be effective in reducing certain types of hyper-pigmentation, sun damage and uneven skin colour and tone. There are several varieties of pigmentation with some very challenging to eradicate. Dr Wendy Wong will advise you on what sort of results to expect. Sun protection is essential when treating skin discolouration disorders. A sun block will be required during and after the treatment as well as a pigment inhibiting product for ongoing prevention of future hyper-pigmentation.
